Sawer warns against complacency
Commenting on a recent swoop by the Drug Enforcement Administration against internet drug smugglers, Martin Sawer, BAPW Executive Director, said:
"All of us involved in the supply chain have a responsibility to maintain its integrity and this bust shows that we can't afford to be complacent about the state of things in the UK. The recent debate about medicines has undermined patient confidence so we have to work hard to ensure that patients know that they are getting the medicines they need form legitimate sources, rather than just the medicines they want from suppliers with no credentials.
"Suppliers in this country are rigorously licensed and inspected to ensure that the medicines we supply are sourced legitimately and of the highest quality, but unfortunately it's not always possible to say the same when you buy from an unregulated, overseas internet provider with indeterminate credentials.”
